Description
Our natural St. John's wort essential oil for food comes from the plant with the botanical name Hypericum perforatum. In international practice the product bears the name St. John's Wort natural essential oil for food. The plant belongs to the family Hypericaceae and develops as a perennial herbaceous species characteristic of the temperate biome. The temperate biome covers Europe, reaches North-West Africa and extends eastwards to China, while its southern part also includes the fields of Bulgaria, where our raw material comes from. The raw material comprises the flowers collected during the period of full bloom. The flowers undergo steam distillation, which is why only their volatile substances pass into the liquid and the fragrance keeps its pure natural line. The pure line of the fragrance is complemented by the natural origin of the raw material, which grows without artificial intervention on the flowers. The fragrance reveals a warm and soft character. The character combines a herbal base with a light sweetness and remains recognisable throughout the whole volume. The liquid remains fluid and homogeneous, and its pale yellow colour comes from the flowers used in the extraction. The pale yellow colour spreads evenly and gives the product a calm light appearance. The liquid is built entirely from natural ingredients and remains free of added preservatives or colourants. The natural cultivation method explains the purity of the composition, because the raw material matures in a natural environment, without synthetic supplements to the soil and to the aboveground part. St. John's wort oil carries a soft herbal warmth gathered from the flowers in the fields of Bulgaria.

Application
Natural St. John's wort essential oil is used in the food industry as a flavouring agent with a characteristic herbal aroma and delicate sweet nuances. It finds application in the production of products for which a natural and distinctive flavour profile is sought. It is added in small concentrations to finished products, paste-like products, tea blends and functional foods, in formulations where the presence of a herbal note is a desired quality. It is used in the development of specialised lines with a natural character, including products for healthy eating, in which natural aromatic ingredients are preferred to synthetic alternatives. The oil also enriches the production of honey, jams, functional spreads and products with added value linked to natural extracts. It is incorporated into herbal dressings, to which it gives a fresh and authentic character. When working in the food sector, the applicable EU regulatory requirements for the use of flavourings and natural extracts are observed. The oil is compatible with a number of food matrices and allows the production of items with an authentic herbal character and a clear natural identity, suitable for consumers looking for cleaner and more transparent formulations.
